UK Medical Mediation Conference will take on 17th September 2025, with the aim of exploring the current and future role of mediation in health and care sector. The event will examine the important role mediation has to play in clinical disputes and how pre-emptive conflict management can work as an effective prevention tool.
It is reported over 80% of cases in 2022-2023 were resolved without the need for legal action and this trend has continued thereafter, mediation being a key contributing factor. The conference will discuss the benefits and pitfalls of mediation, when is appropriate mediate and what considerations need to be made during the process.
The challenges of conflict management in the health and care sector can be heightened due to the nature of healthcare professional and client relationships, as well as high pressure working environments. Not all cases will be able to be resolved in the early stages and so we will take a look at examples of mediation in clinic disputes that have resulted in a resolution and those that have not. We will present case studies from a number of the UK's leading trusts and hospital as well as hearing first had form the mediators, lawyers and internal staff managing the process.
